The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) is seeking an accomplished development executive to join our team as a Development Fundraising Consultant.
As NABJ continues to expand its national impact, we are looking for a strategic, results-driven leader to drive our annual and multi-year contributed revenue goals. Operating in a hybrid capacity out of our national office in College Park, Maryland, this leader will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission to empower, support, and elevate Black journalists and media professionals nationwide.
Key Highlights of the Role
- Revenue Leadership: Personal responsibility for managing, growing, and securing $1.5M+ annually in contributed revenue through corporate, foundation, major gift, and individual giving portfolios.
- Corporate & Strategic Partnerships: Direct corporate partnership strategy, restructuring event sponsorships into comprehensive, multi-year, year-round packages.
- Institutional & Individual Giving: Cultivate high-capacity donors, build scholarship/endowment funds, and direct foundation proposal pipelines.
- Board & Leadership Engagement: Partner closely with the Board of Directors, Executive Director, and Development Committee to activate national funding networks.
Qualifications at a Glance
- Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible fundraising leadership experience for a national nonprofit organization.
- Documented personal track record of closing five- and six-figure gifts, sponsorships, and grants.
- Proficiency with development CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce NPSP, Raiser’s Edge NXT, Bloomerang).
- Willingness to travel 20%–30% annually and attend signature events like the NABJ Annual Convention and Career Fair.
