The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) gives major applause to the hiring of long-time dedicated member Galen Gordon as senior vice president for Talent Strategy and Development at ABC News. View the announcement here.
“This significant hire of someone who has worked within NABJ as mentor, advisor and who knows our industry inside and out is long overdue and much appreciated,” said NABJ President Dorothy Tucker. “Those who know Galen are well aware of his commitment and track record in the diversity, equity and inclusion arena. There could not have been a better choice for this position.”
NABJ is excited and prepared to work with Gordon as he continues to help lead efforts to diversify the nation’s newsrooms. President Tucker challenges other companies to make similar hires at the highest levels of news and media management.
“We will continue to advocate for more Black leaders in our newsrooms. True equity can only be achieved when all departments of the newsroom reflect the diverse makeup of our country. This is especially important when our industry lacks so many decisions-makers and talent strategists that look like us.”
