NABJ MOURNS THE PASSING OF HALL OF FAMER MICHAEL DAYS

National Association of Black Journalists is saddened by the passing of Michael Days. Michael Days was an accomplished journalist and life member of NABJ. An award-winning veteran journalist, Days was inducted into the NABJ Hall of Fame in 2017 and was serving as the president of the Philadelphia chapter of NABJ at the time of his death. 

“With a quiet authority and spirit of tremendous generosity, Michael Days exemplified the very best of what it means to be a journalist and a leader,” said NABJ President Errin Haines. “He believed in truth, fairness, and the power of journalism to uplift communities. Through his mentorship and throughout his career, he opened doors for so many Black journalists as he rose to the heights of journalism in his hometown, earning the admiration and respect of so many across our industry. We honor his legacy, his service, and his unwavering belief in the mission of NABJ as the best of our profession and our organization.”

NABJ Region I Director Melony Roy added, “Michael Days was a true professional. He stepped up to lead the chapter in Philadelphia more than once, always bringing people together with humility and strength. His legacy lives on in the many journalists he inspired and the example he set. I know I’m not alone in feeling this profound loss.”

NABJ extends its deepest condolences to Michael Days’ family, colleagues, and all who were touched by his extraordinary life and work. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered within the NABJ family.
