Phillip, Holland, Duthiers, Radford to Emcee #NABJ24 Awards

 

The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) is proud to announce its award ceremony emcees for the #NABJ24 Convention & Career Fair, which will take place in Chicago from July 31 to Aug. 4. Tickets for the Convention’s award events can be purchased by registered attendees in the Attendee Service Center at NABJConvention.com or during checkout for new registrants. 

Abby Phillip of CNN and Frank Holland of CNBC will host the annual Hall of Fame Induction & Luncheon on Friday, Aug. 2, at Noon CST. The Hall of Fame celebration is powered by the PGA TOUR and the National Education Association (NEA). The induction ceremony pays homage to legendary Black journalists and communicators who have made outstanding contributions to the news and media industries.

Vladimir Duthiers of CBS News and Morgan Radford of NBC News Now will host the annual Salute to Excellence Awards Gala, powered by Walmart, on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at 6 p.m. CST. A reception for honorees and attendees will be held just before the event at 5 p.m. CT. The awards ceremony will honor journalists, communicators, and organizations that best cover and tell the story of the Black experience and address issues affecting the worldwide Black community. 

More About Our Hall of Fame Induction & Luncheon Emcees

Phillip anchors “NewsNight with Abby Phillip” on CNN, airing weeknights at 10 p.m. EST. Known for her award-winning Washington reporting, she provides in-depth context on current affairs through hard-hitting interviews and diverse conversations. Previously, Phillip was CNN’s senior political correspondent and anchor of “Inside Politics Sunday.” She joined CNN in 2017, covering the Trump administration and served as a White House correspondent until 2019. In January 2020, she moderated CNN’s Democratic Presidential Debate in Iowa. She has anchored special coverage for significant political events, including election nights, State of the Union addresses, and the January 6 committee hearings.

Holland is the anchor of CNBC’s “Worldwide Exchange” and is a transport and tech correspondent, reporting on cloud computing, enterprise software, cybersecurity, and supply chain sectors. Since joining CNBC in 2018, he’s covered major stories such as the first COVID-19 vaccine shipments, George Floyd’s death, Hurricane Ida, and the first Kentucky Derby after the pandemic. He also reports on diversity and inclusion under CNBC’s Equity and Opportunity brand.

Duthiers, an Emmy Award-winning journalist, has covered a wide range of breaking and feature stories since joining CBS News in 2014. He is a featured host of “CBS Mornings” and an anchor for CBS News 24/7. 

He’s interviewed several high-profile politicians, business leaders, and acclaimed celebrities and artists. Previously, Duthiers was an international correspondent at CNN, based in Lagos, Nigeria, where he was honored with a Peabody Award for his reporting on the more than 200 girls kidnapped from their school in Northeastern Nigeria by Boko Haram.

Radford, a co-anchor of NBC News Daily and an NBC News correspondent since 2015, has covered the country’s biggest stories, including the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, the coronavirus pandemic, and the death of George Floyd. Before joining NBC News, Radford was an anchor for Al Jazeera America and previously worked for ABC News. She received her bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, a master’s degree from Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism, and a Fulbright Fellowship from the U.S. State Department.
