08/20/2021WASHINGTON, D.C. — Vice President Kamala Harris will address attendees at the annual National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Convention and Career Fair with a special message to open the #NABJ21 Newsmaker Plenary on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, from 9-11:30 a.m.
This year’s plenary will feature conversations on COVID-19 and the Black community with Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and Dr. Cameron Webb, who currently serves as Senior Policy Advisor for Equity on the White House COVID-19 Response Team. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Ian Smith, host of the nationally syndicated, Emmy award-winning television show, The Doctors.
The conversation will be followed by the discussion “Journalists Covering COVID-19 Reporters’ Roundtable” moderated by Steve Pickett, Emmy Award-winning Journalist at KTVT, Dallas. The panel will feature the following journalists:
- Aundrea Cline-Thomas, Emmy Award-winning Journalist and General Assignment Reporter at WCBS
- Beverly White, General Assignment Reporter, KNBC
- Kat Stafford, National Investigative Reporter, Associated Press
